Let’s go back, way back….
Back before those Tolemy’s with the unnecessary P
Right back to the sunrise. Can astrology meet us there?
THE CLAY
What is this miraculous clay? This earth?
Let’s start with life, what life shares –all of life!
With no exception!
PRIMARY DRIVES
A species must have the Capacity to:
- Grow
- React to Stimuli
- Metabolise
- Energy transformation
- Reproduce
- Adapt to their environment
- Evolve over multiple generations
The Primal Drives are fixed,
- they do not evolve,
- they do not change,
- they are fundamental for life
- and the continuation of any species.
- they are the baseline of all DNA
So let’s clarify this list as it is important grasp that this is for an entire Species, not a single unit within that species.
In every species there are single units that are unable to reproduce, for example single cell organisms are a-sexual and reproduce via cell division (cloning), some – but not all, single cell organisms produce a genetic variation of themselves which establishes and defines the entire species as ‘life’, life as us earthly peoples have defined life to be anyway.
The ability to grow in size from birth to adulthood, consume food and transform that food from one form into another form, which can then be used for energy (calories), the ability to reproduce and therefor continue the species, and the ability to adapt and respond to our surroundings when we are internally or externally stimulated.
Lastly the ability to evolve, meaning we can biologically change to ensure as a species we can continue to fulfil the Primary Drives and be the thrivers!
Secondary or supportive drives, exist to support the Primal Drives, they are not constant, they are triggered when self-preservation or species continuation are at risk and a physical response is required, the action to be taken could be to migrate, adapt, evolve or worst case scenario you get to meet a ferryman.
SECONDARY DRIVES
- Resource availability
- Invading alien species
- Disease
- Climate change
Secondary Drives are shared by all forms of life, they exist to support the Primary Drives.
Secondary Drives lay dormant until triggered. It is not entirely understood how the body receives the signal to trigger this, it is assumed to be a combination of signals from within our microbiome, interaction with others and the environment. Mostly what is not understood is how we change as a species in the exact same way.
When triggered, we may or may not be stimulated by internal chemical reaction, we may not even know, what occurs the science nerds call Adaptation. Adaptation exist purely to support the Primary Drives
Sciences have their own specific and globally referenced word definitions, a lot of scientific papers are misunderstood for this reason.
Common word usage changes between cultural groups and with time, whereas science findings and research data is supposed to be about repeatability, reproducibility and replication therefore they have their own dictionary, which is shared across similar fields.
Google tells me, ‘Alien’ is defined as ‘a species which is from outside its natural distribution,’ which means it doesn’t normally live in those conditions. She also told me, ‘Invasive’ is defined as, ‘expanding into and modifying the ecosystems.’
The dictionary definition for Invade is defined as, ‘occupy by force and in large numbers’ which sounds very colonial.
Resource availability, I imagine this would be triggered with fear, like when you think you just lost our job! Or when a pandemic is at large and we panic buy toilet paper. Its fear, there suddenly competition,….. a heart pounding fear that you won’t have what you need! This is supposed to be about the essentials water, food, shelter, wi-fi.
Disease my medium term memory, tells me this could be triggers repulsion and/or fear. This is why we freak out when we see green puss, instinctually we won’t touch rashes or wounds, and why we don’t like seeing people cough up gross stuff. Why bad smells make us hold our breath! We can handle kids being disgusting, our family, some lovers and some friends. But when a stranger coughs up something gross, we are programmed to be revolted and repulsed.
Lastly, changes to the climate, It is suspected, but not possible to prove, that the first 3 Secondary Drives exist as an early warning system. As that is the nature of climate change, when the ecosystem changes there are new diseases, new species and changes to the food and water sources.
When any of these three Secondary Drives are triggered we will ‘Adapt’ to the change,
When a change in climate occurs we have either already adapted, will continue adapting, be on the extinction watch list or as a species we will begin evolving. This lift of 4 items, are the only known triggers for species evolution, and they are all in preparation for Climate Change.
Adaptations are changes that are made quickly so we can adapt to our changing environment,
Most people assume that humans are upright walkers and this is a fixed human trait, but it isn’t, bipedalism was a series of RNA adaptations, such as the broadening the foot, the re-setting of our hip bones, the lengthening of our neck, more boring stuff like that.
Our DNA never actually changed when we got the Bipedal upgrade, this is to keep humans safe in the future, so we can change again if we need to, we will only change if we need to. I’m hoping for wings.
This flexibility in coding cells is why there is only a 1.6% difference in the DNA of Humans and Gorillas. It’s our RNA that makes us different not our DNA.
If DNAis the building blocks, RNA is the cladding, the front door and the furniture we put in the house, and it changes regularly.
A change to the DNA of a species occurs over multiple generations, and this occurs when the RNA adaptation has now become so fundamental for survival, that the change will be uploaded in to the DNA, from what I can gather once it’s in the DNA its not going anywhere its there forever. The fossil record shows these changes to DNA are generally seen when there has been quick and extreme changes to the environment. What I do find interesting, is when there is a DNA change it becomes automatic, instinctual or like a reflex. Its no longer a choice.
Our DNA and our physical body don’t speak the same language, RNA is almost like a translator and work allocator between the DNA and the protein, once the protein receives the code, then the protein knowns what to transform into.
IMPORTANT DISTINCTIONS
DRIVES:
Are the unconscious and automatic triggers that stimulate an internal chemical reaction. The chemical reaction is a call to action. Humans and other mammals become conscious of this with the release of hormones, physical sensation or emotion, these are internal stimulants and their purpose is to make you uncomfortable so you take action, (Horney, Hungry).
The other reaction is unconscious and is when RNA adaptations will occur, you likely won’t you being aware of it. Women who wear heels and develop thicker skin around their toes, this is RNA adaptation at its most basic. It just protecting the toes, keeping you safe.
REFLEX:
Our physical reflexes are automatic and are not controllable, babies are born with the ability to suck, when we touch something hot we pull our hand away. This happens without conscious thought, when an action or behaviour occurs as a reflex, that is evidence that it is programmed into our DNA.
PRIMAL INSTINCT:
In ANIMALS, we also have Primal instincts, known as “Fight, Flight, Feed or F**k!”, they are the basic instinctual responses needed for Animals to be capable of preforming the Primal Drives, they are not triggered by the secondary drives, they are instinctual and are built into DNA.
Some people add Faun or Freeze, which are primal instinct in other animals, but I don’t believe they are within humans, they are learned behaviours.
This is primal base level brain function, it is sometimes called the reptilian brain. As all species must be able to grow, react, eat and reproduce.
MAMMALS
Mammal comes from the Latin word for ‘Breast’ (Mamma)
To be a Mammal you must:
- Produce young that are feed by milk, which is produced in a mammary gland
- Have a Neocortex region of the brain
- Have fur or hair
- And have three middle ear bones.
(If you are a parent who bottle feeds your baby, don’t be alarmed. Be grateful, because it is perfect example of how human intelligence has given us opportunities to thrive. A feed baby is best! All that matters is that you and your baby are happy and healthy. That is all that matters!)
There is conflicting information that states a mammal must give birth to live young and have 4 limbs, this information in not correct, it is common but not essential. The Neocortex region of the brain has the capacity, to communicate in a method that is species specific, it allows the species to be aware that they exist and give the capacity to use tools, meaning use an object from your environment to intentionally assist in achieving a goal.
To wrap this up in real language, the Neocortex is essential for an animal to be able to learn.
Mammals have the capacity to not only react instinctually but to also respond based on their prior experience and learned knowledge. Mostly what we learn is uploaded as new instincts, habits and ritualistic behaviour.
The Neocortex also allows for learning specific communication techniques that are not instinctual and do not automatically occur within the species, this communication is learnt from others of the same species, it can change and be modified often. When a communication technique is built into our DNA we do it without needing to be taught, and it never changes it is always the same.
All humans share a non-verbal communication technique that transcends cultural and language barriers, it’s sometimes mentioned as an strange oddity a weird experience – but it is a product of our design that we all share!
Our ‘unconscious’,‘ microbiome’, ‘ soul’ whatever your word of choice is, I’m going with ‘she’.
And She is constantly scanning people’s faces, every face she sees is scanned, and intuitively she will recognised the miniscule facial signals that we would have no way of seeing in our real world.
The scan will assess each face for one of the 6 basic emotions, which all able humans experience, they are coded within our DNA….. Fear, Anger, Sadness, Repulsion, Surprise and Happiness. When you look at a personas face and a lot of the time even when you haven’t, your nervous system is already aware of that persons mood.
It doesn’t matter if the person speak a different language, or they are from a different culture or country it makes no difference, these 6 emotions are innate within us all and therefor are a non-verbal language we all share. Everyone of us.
Have you ever become really scared all of a sudden and you didn’t understand why, or just felt really uncomfortable like you didn’t want to stay were you were, it’s not the watcher, its different than that.
This function is probably the reason why, your inner you has scanned something that it didn’t like, and is elbowing you in the ribs saying….. Oi – it’s time to roll! Lets go!
Some scientist believe it’s this that responsible for all the surprise parties that went wrong!
If ever our Internal 5G Facial Recognition software is going to short circuit and make a mistake, it will only happen with 2 of our basic emotions, Fear and Surprise!
If you get her by surprise– she’ll be smashing that pilot eject button before you notice anything!
Even if she quickly sees it surprise – it’s too late! Because you’re either doing a Rocky Balboa or you let the Rocketship go round!
LEARNED INSTINCT:
Learned instincts are sometimes called ‘Social Instincts’.
We still have our Primal Instincts (Fight, Flight, Feed and F**k) but we can also learn from our environment, our experience and from each other. As we are social animals, conforming to society is the basis of our security and our ability to continue on as a species, alone in the wilderness is the most unsafe place a human can be, but when we are together we have the opportunity to thrive!
This social bond requires us to take into account more than just our own Primary Instincts. As to live together we can’t only be focused on our own needs, we need to accommodate for the others in the group. As humans, we all live in different cultures, different environments, we grow up in different families with different ancestral wounds and wisdoms. We experience events and situations differently, so naturally how we react is different, learned instincts are the reason why we are all different… but still the same.
Learned instincts introduce new behaviours in addition to the Primal Instincts, behaviours such as freeze, hide or submit, and the reaction you are likely to have will all comes down to your lived experience. And yes we can change our impulses if we want to, everything’s possible with effort, we’re pretty lucky like that.
HAY-U HUMAN!
We may or may not walk bipedally forever but one thing is absolutely certain we will always be social animals, being social animals is so well built into us that it will never change,
We may not live in large cities or hierarchical social structures, but we will always, always make connection with each other, just like we do now, the way we connect will always change its way, morph into a different way, just like within our culture and our online presence – but never will we be alone living as a separated collective group. The DNA just says No!
Some old geezers had the world convinced that when humans harnessed fire we backflipped straight out of our treehouses and immediately got to work on the first Sola Topi. Which isn’t exactly correct – from any angle.
There is also a pretty solid theory around our Alpha status being due to our ability to communicate using complex language. Symbols, alphabet, complex word, signs and signals, art, symbology, allegory… our skills are red hot!
I am not alone in having this alternative theory, there are many, many others, maybe even a scientist somewhere, who don’t agree with either of these theories.
Both are great, no one can deny that, and what occurred as result of them is amazing, with the ability to control fire, what changed was our menu. For the first time we started to eat cooked meat. Cooked meat is far more calorie dense, easier to digest, it can be stored without going rotten as quickly, you don’t have to chew it and nor at it for as long. It would have helped with us in the looks department to!
What this deliciousness did for us was grow our brains and improve our odds of creative invention, imagination and original thought, more spark plugs!
This occurred before ‘early modern humans’ who were exactly the same as us minus the tech. Our growing brain got big, really quickly! Huge! And the evolutionary consequences for this change in diet was a pretty heavy toll, as our offspring started growing with these larger brains while still in the womb. It would have been pretty rough times for our ancestors then, really rough! For everyone! We adapted quickly though as that is our nature. We got through it!
The fossil record shows a period where our skulls stared decreasing in size, our brain capacity shrunk. This was RNA adaptation helping us out, reproduction is a Primary Drive, so we have no choice in the matter, I’d just trust the price is good!
This change also meant and still to this day means, when our beautiful little babies are born that they don’t have a fully grown scull protecting their big brain, they so delicate they are unable to see, communicate, offer any assistance in their survival for a long time after being born. Unlike our neighbours over in the Gorilla tree, who’s young can grab on to their mothers fur within a few hours after being born, in some cases immediately, therefor the young take on the responsibility to hang on for their survival. This allows mum to continue life as is necessary.
Human newborns are the most underdeveloped and vulnerable newborns compared with all of the other independent breathers within the animal kingdom – All of them!
And here we are, the Alpha! Why is that?
Human babies are different, they require more care than is reasonable for one parent to provide, or even a two parent pair, human babies need a whole town to help them reach adulthood, to build not only the physical capacity but the mental capacity, getting them to a point of awareness so they watch out for the dangerous animals.
I couldn’t even remember to check both ways before riding my bike on the road!
So anyway, what happened,
How did we make it through this big brained apocalypse
Well….
We got the Love!…. We got the Love we need to see us through!
Not just instinctual love, but we got the top shelve Love, the largest hand there is to play!! We trumped every other evolutionary upsized meal deal across all of creative millennia!!
We got the Love!
But there’s more…. something that isn’t seen often and some would say not seen at all across the animal kingdom.
…… Men got the love too.
And this miraculous love just evolved and billowed through us like a leaf floating along a stream, that just happened to land were it had always belonged.
This Love became so important for our species survival that we simply wouldn’t be here without it….. And it paid dividends!
We don’t even need to have a baby – we can fall in love at any given moment, we can be filled with a moment of love just watching a homeless guys share a sandwich with his old dog, there is nothing exchanged nothing given or taken, but there it is.
We were no longer purely motivated by the hormonal and the instinctual urge to mate and multiply!! Although this still exists, we have more than that.
The love we have is not the instinctual love displayed in the animal kingdom by nursing females. That instinct to protect, nourish and nurture that still arrives, but then there is this Love!
Does this Love overwhelm us through every moment of our day– No, of course not! We wouldn’t get anything done!
But in those moments, that it slips through and ….boom!… there it is!….. this miraculous force leaning in on your entire physical existance2…. multiplying. It just happens, just like breathing and blinking, it just happens.
It is this love that gives us the strength and the determination to make it through our challenges. It is this love that powers us forward. It is this Love the sends us to the ends of the earth without a second thought, Some even travel there by choice hoping to find it,
Some walk through a darkness of their own making, and when the spring comes, they rise before the Sun and they see.
Its right there, it was their the entire time.
AS ABOVE, SO BELOW
So what has this got to do with astrology, well, everything. This is how we exist, this is the life that flows through our veins and the light we experience through everything it manifests, if astrology is the science of understanding nature, and therefore our own nature – then its simple, they belong.
I LOVE YOU X
